I did not get to know Jon nearly as well as I would have liked to. I will not forget the kindness with which he welcomed me to UCL and to London, an instant sense of familiarity, the look of complicity in his eye, the spectacularly intelligent comments, the warm smile, a very nice suit, a long conversation alas about motorcycles, a little bit of irony. Mostly the sense of a cool guy, and a very, very kind and sweet man. I said "come over for dinner" a few times and I wish I had set a date.
