2 December 2011

from Robin Walker

My earliest recollections of Jon are from EPS meetings in the early 1990’s when he always seemed to be in the greatest hurry.  I have watched his rise since then with the greatest admiration and respect.  I last saw him when I was a visitor at the ICN in 2007 and despite his many commitments as a scientist and (popular) director he made time for lunch and coffee.  I think we discussed North London schools as much as Science.  I collaborated with him only once and can still clearly remember a discussion about the data and being greatly impressed by his quick insights and clever suggestions. His thoughts were always two steps ahead.  My deepest sympathies go to Nilli and their boys.
