1 December 2011

from Diane Beck

Jon has had such huge impact on the field in terms of both his science and leadership.  There are many a young scientist who would list Jon as one of their academic heroes.  This is made all the more remarkable by the fact that this was true very early in Jon's career.  It has been many years since I have been at UCL, but my interactions with Jon have stayed with me; I have returned to his insightful comments and words of support many a time since then. I have to also say how wonderful it was to watch his and Nilli's relationship; both their intellectual interactions and the loving support they showed each other. My love and thoughts are with Nilli and the boys.  Jon will be so very greatly missed by so very many of us.
